EVERYONE HANG ON TO YOUR WALLETS! DHIMMI LIBERALS CRYING TO SEND MORE CASH TO PAKISTAN…
OTTAWA – Liberals are calling on the federal government to help flood-stricken Pakistan further by extending the deadline of the matching-funds program.
The program, which matches Canadians’ flood-relief donations dollar for dollar, ends Sunday.
Liberal MP Frank Valeriote said Wednesday the deadline should be extended because August was the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which restricted fundraising efforts.
Ramadan ends Friday.
“With apparently no awareness that Ramadan and the difficulty of organizing fundraisers in the summer months have limited how much communities can contribute up to this point, the Conservatives have put in place an inflexible end date of Sept. 12 as to when they will match donations,” Valeriote said. “The Liberal Party of Canada believes that at the very least they should extend this date.”
The Liberals also want the government to dedicate resources to help Pakistani families reunite here and want the feds to deploy the Disaster Relief Assistance Team, or DART.
The federal government has so far committed $33 million in Pakistan flood-relief funds, making it the fifth largest contributor.
There is no word yet on how much the feds will pay as part of the matching-funds program, which began Aug. 2.
There are an estimated 300,000 Pakistanis living in Canada.
